ParentSpeak

Hello Dear Dear Parents of Devashish,

Devashish is proud to launch this section specially for you- for your comments and views. It was on public demand that we had to do this. And we are sure that the parent fraternity of Devashish is going to make the most of this facility.

We are waiting to hear from you. You can write anything and everything related to the school here and be assured that you would be heard and answered. Let us get together to make schooling a lovely affair.

A word of appreciation by father of Mellissa of Std.9 for Rakesh sir…..

Dear Rakesh Sir,

Certainly this is exciting and motivating way to develop interest in students about what is happening around them. Melissa was quite involved and with lot of hard work has prepared this PPT. Please also observe the video at the last slide.

No doubt I’ve helped her in preparing this PPT and I really appreciate your way of encouraging students for learning and using technologies.

Regards!

    Winning ?? ?? ????? practice

What really differentiates people in this world is the quantity of practicing they do. One basketball player may have very much the same skill to some other players. Whats getting him to play for the major organizations and his national side is going to be his dedication to practice.

This same logic relates to every aspect in your life. Just what is going to distinguish you from others in your discipline will be the quantity of devotion you have to making yourself expert in this area by simply practicing at it.

Think of an area within your life where you were outstanding. A special type of discipline where you are extremely good. How did you reach that level? Have you work really hard at it as well as add practice to improve on your skills?

This identical logic applies to the leaders within their field. They have used their abilities and have put in tremendous quantities of training and practice time to them in order to be the leaders. The pianist that makes it being a concert artist will have to practiced tougher as compared to one who never really makes the cut and finishes educating piano and performing in the rec center hall.

The greatest discoveries inside scientific developments have been by people who have sweated long hours and with great commitment. The golfing legend Gary Player used to declare that the tougher he worked the luckier he got on the golf course.

Concentrate your full attention upon what you need to acquire. This can be in virtually any area in your life whether it consists of becoming a good mother or father, a donating representative with the neighborhood or possibly a coach of the local kids hockey team.

Invest tremenuous time learning and attaining expertise, working as a volunteer, investing additional hours with each youngster as well as overseeing progress. Within each and every occasion devote time on practicing the skills essential for the activity.

You can learn and practice in every area in your life. If you want to be a much better mother or father then read up on parenting guides, subscribe to a help support class or even include sessions with a family health care practitioner. Work with your kids and relate to find out where your connection may be improved. Place efforts in to the undertaking.

Each and every part in your life will be enhanced when you invest time learning and practicing the abilities needed. The same corresponds to each and every goal you set yourself. In order to end up being at the top, the most successful in whatever you aim to then you need to practice harder than everyone else.

Why is a football player win a match should be ability and ability. But just what creates that player beat other competitors is more practice compared to anybody else. They need put much more hard work to their function whether that is training on court, eating the right foods, health and fitness center training or motivational education.

All winners you saw spend more time at practice. Make certain you have allocate practice time built into your own program for your success and you will obtain what you have attempted to do regardless of what the goal.

    Dear Mr. Kundalia,
Thanks for the appreciation of our efforts towards promoting art and craft along with regular Drawing and Painting in school . We are sorry about the communication gap about getting of material. We have informed every student about managing the craft material within one week. So we expect kids to manage the material by the drawing periods next week.I would make it a point to get a note written in their diaries tomorrow.Sorry for the communication gap.

  3. Respected Principal,
We really appreciated your efforts to teach our children in various activities like drawing, clay modelling, Karatte etc.,
but we would be obliged if you can provide the time-table for the same at least a week in advance. Sometimes it becomes difficult for us to find the right material in sometimes wrong weather. (e.g. for pots, we were informed on Saturday and event was scheduled on Monday. The recommended suppliers did not have proper material as they were not informed about the event dates. Our Sunday evening was spent searching to complete the list).
Still waiting eagerly for other such events.

    Dear Leena Ma’am,
Congratulations on 100% school result in Board exams. All teachers and entire staff deserve greetings for excellent performance of the school.
Well I’m Melissa’s father and I’m Head of Training & Development Dept in MNC Engineering company as General Manager. At times I ask that how can I contribute to the better performance of the school. We can offer some of the behavioral training programs and softskill training programs for school children. As we also do Train the Training programs for our trainers, some of the sessions can be conducted for school teachers on how to transform knowledge in more effective way.
I understand that under “Lateral Thinking” you do some of the activities similar to this.
Looking forward for interaction on the same.

    Dear Leena Mam,

Thanks for the prompt reply, appreciation and encouragement as always.

We have given an idea to take this up to the RJ of one of the Radio Channels. (RED FM) An idea of inviting callers to share their experiences with the school in their neighbourhood and the punctuality that the school brings to them even if they are not studying at the school.

    Thanks once again.

    Dear Mr. Joshi,
It was one of the most beautiful comments that we have ever received! We never knew we meant sooooo much to so many people. When I for the first time saw a bus stop across our school called Devashish bus stop, and a hoarding reading Devashish School at Ramdev nagar cross roads and another reading Ashish Vidhyalay at Judges Bunglows made me feel so glad thinking my school is a land mark now. And this beautiful comment from you makes me feel that even our bell has become a music for routines in people’s lives. Thanks again!! Stay in touch.

    Hello Devashishyaas,

After being here in the adjoining building of the school for more than 3 years, we are so accustomed to the school in the neighbourhood that it feels lonely out here during the school vacation.

We long to hear the school bell ring during the recess at 9:40 a.m. (Actually it is our time to step in the office) Also again at 10 am when the recess gets over (actually it is our Morning Tea Time) Again during the afternoon at 12:15 when the English Medium goes home and Gujarati Medium gets in…. we miss “the Devashish Jindabad” It is also just 1 hour to our lunch time…

We miss the 3 pm Lunch Time Bell for Gujarati Medium (its our noon Tea Time :) and again in the evening when the Gujarati Medium goes home we know that soon in approximately 1 hour it will be time for us to go home…

The bell rings for us too….Waiting for the daily hustle and bustle….

  12. Nikhil Joshi says:

    Dear Devashishyaas,

Here is a small story with a good message….

A little boy went into a drug store, reached for a soda carton and pulled it
over to the telephone. He climbed onto the carton so that he could reach the
buttons on the phone and proceeded to punch in seven digits (phone numbers).

The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:

Boy: “Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?

Woman: (at the other end of the phone line): “I already have someone to cut
    my lawn.”

Boy: “Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts
    your lawn now.”

Woman: I’m very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.

Boy: (with more perseverance) : “Lady, I’ll even sweep
your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will
have the prettiest lawn in all of Palm beach , Florida.”

    Woman: No, thank you.

With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The
store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.

Store Owner: “Son… I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and
would like to offer you a job.”

    Boy: “No thanks”

Store Owner: But you were really pleading for one.

Boy: No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the
job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking
    to!”

This is what we call “Self Appraisal”

  14. Nikhil Joshi says:

    Dear Devashishyaas,

Continuing the Inspirational Stories…. Here is a nice story for everyone….

    THINK DIFFERENTLY AND STANDOUT

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: “I am blind, please help.” There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, “Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?”

The man said, “I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.”
What he had written was: “Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it.”

Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing?

Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story: Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.

    Regards
    Nikhil Joshi:)

  19. MITESH SOLANKI says:

It was really nice experience with the MIND LAB. What I personally believe is developing child is like cultivating a plant which need proper attachment with soil (bonding with parents), timely water (family tradition), proper amount of fertilizers – natural or synthesized (difference between good and bad, right and wrong, positive and negative), sunlight (feeling of protective atmosphere) and slightly fast wind (to encourage to take calculated risk and strength to fight problems). I think if such environment will be provided to any child – adult will will definitely provide CANOPY to so many others.

    Really Best CONCEPT.

    All the best !

The concept of Mind Lab which is being implemented in the School is a very good welcome initiative which would, according to me, give free wings to the students to fly with their great imaginations and further nurture their development and the level of their thinking. This is a step by which the awareness and interest of the students in science can be created and developed, which our country nowadays needs. 26. Nikhil Joshi says:

    Dear Devashishyaas,

Many of us make mistakes and sometimes, knowingly or unknowingly we tend to hurt our teachers, students, friends or colleagues.

Thereafter when we think about it, we feel that we should not have done that and repent. Many students come across situations like these.

A CONFESSION BOX would be a nice idea. It can be kept at a place accessible to one and all – STUDENTS, TEACHERS, STAFF who could write about their confession with or without their name. This would help in many ways.

The person confessing would be relieved of feeling guilty. Tendency of being honest will develop among the students. On one hand they would be happy that they confessed and on the other hand they would consciously take care the next time, before repeating the mistake.

Encouragement of the confession could be done by announcing/putting up their name as the most honest person of the week or fortnight.

Let us encourage and appreciate them for their honesty. Ultimately our goal is to make them good citizens.

Here is something so very INNOCENT!

In a Nursery School Canteen there was a basket of apples with a note over it:

“Do not take more than one.

A little further on the counter was a box of Choclates. A child wrote over it:

“Take as many as you want.

    Dear Devashishyaas,

    A small suggestion…

Would it be possible to put the image of School Badge on the Homepage of our website?

Badge is a very integral and important component of any form of communication exercise for a school. As a conscious effort, we can put it in all forms of media communication being done.

It is a Symbol of Pride and recognition for each and every Devashishya.

I have gone through the entire details on the site. I also have an inspirational story, which I will never forget.

We had come from Chhattisgarh to Ahmedabad and admitted our daughter in Devashish. There was some problem in CLC which I was asked to get corrected. The Regional office of CBSE is at Ajmer for Chhattisgarh and I was fixed like a football between the school at Chhattisgarh, AJMER and Devashish. It was delayed due to different reason.

I received a call from Leena mam for CLC and attendence. I said I am trying my level best for the same. After few minutes only I received another call from the class teacher. I got frustated, why so many follow ups. She is my daughter and I know my duty.

But the teacher was calm and just listening to me. Her final reply was “She is your daughter and you are worried, but she is my best student and hence I am more worried. I do not want to loose her at any cost”. I had no words to say her thanks. So caring. I never saw a Principal and Teacher so caring about each individual of her school in my life.

    Thanks a lot.

  32. Nikhil Joshi says:

    Dear All,

Hope you like these Inspirational Stories that are posted.

    Here is another one…

A small boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed.

The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised.

That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn’t sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble.

Moral of the story: If you don’t give your hundred percent in a relationship, you’ll always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent..

Give your hundred percent to everything you do and sleep peacefully.

    Warm Regards

    Dear Devashishyaas,

The inspirational stories continue.. Read on… It is interesting…

A Father was reading a magazine and his little daughter every now and then distracted him. To keep her busy, he tore one page on which was printed the map of the world. He tore it into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together to make the map again.

He was sure she would take the whole day to get it done. But the little one came back within minutes with perfect map…

When he asked how she could do it so quickly, she said, “Oh… Dad, there is a man’s face on the other side of the paper… I made the face perfect to get the map right.”

She ran outside to play leaving the father surprised.

    Moral of the Story:

There is always the Other Side to whatever you experience in this world.

This story indirectly teaches a lesson. That is, whenever we come across a challenge or a puzzling situation, look at the other side… You will be surprised to see an easy way to tackle the problem..

    Dear Students,

You all study, play games and participate in competitions right???

Here is an inspirational story for you all. Here it goes….

    It was a sports stadium.

Eight Children were standing on the track to participate in the running event.

    * Ready! * Steady! * Bang!!!

With the sound of Toy pistol, all eight girls started running.

Hardly had they covered ten to fifteen steps, one of the smaller girls slipped and fell down and due to bruises and pain she started crying.

When other seven girls heard this sound, they stopped running, stood for a while and turned back. They all ran back to the place where the girl fell down.

One among them bent, picked and kissed the girl gently and enquired ‘Now pain must have reduced’. All seven girls lifted the fallen girl and pacified her. Two of them held the girl firmly and they all seven joined hands together and walked together and reached the winning post.

Officials were shocked. Clapping of thousands of spectators filled the stadium.

Many eyes were filled with tears and perhaps it had reached the GOD even!

    YES. This happened in Hyderabad
    [ INDIA ], recently!

The event was conducted by National Institute of Mental Health.

All these special girls had come to participate in this event and they are spastic children.

What did they teach this world?

    Teamwork?
    Humanity?
    Equality among all?????

Successful people help others who are slow in learning so that they are not left far behind.

“Devashishyaas” Let us all pledge to do the same.

  40. Nikhil Joshi says:

    Dear All,

Continuing with the inspirational stories, I have one more…

There were about 70 scientists working on a very hectic project. All of them were really frustrated due to the pressure of work and the demands of their boss but everyone were loyal to him and did not think of quitting the job.

One day, one scientist came to his boss and told him – Sir, I have promised to my children that I will take them to the exhibition going on in our township. So I want to leave the office at 5:30 pm. His boss replied “OK, You’re permitted to leave the office early today”.

The Scientist started working. He continued his work after lunch. As usual he got involved to such an extent that he looked at his watch when he felt he was close to completion. The time was 8.30 PM.

Suddenly he remembered of the promise he had given to his children.

He looked for his boss, he was not there. Having told him in the morning itself, he closed everything and left for home. Deep within himself, he was feeling guilty for having disappointed his children. He reached home. Children were not there.

His wife alone was sitting in the hall and reading magazines. The situation was explosive; any talk would boomerang on him. His wife asked him, “Would you like to have coffee or shall I straight away serve dinner if you are hungry.

The man replied “If you would like to have coffee, I too will have but what about Children?”

Wife replied “You don’t know? Your manager came here at 5.15 PM and has taken the children to the exhibition”

What had really happened was … The boss who granted him permission was observing him working seriously at 5.00 PM. He thought to himself, this person will not leave the work, but if he has promised his children they should enjoy the visit to exhibition.

So he took the lead in taking them to exhibition. The boss does not have to do it everytime . But once it is done, loyalty is established.
That is why all the scientists at Thumba continued to work under their boss even though the stress was tremendous.

By the way, can you hazard a guess as to who the boss was..?
    …..
    …..
    ….
    …..

He was none other than the mastermind behind India ‘s successful nuclear weapons and missiles program.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Former President of India.

Do write to me about this real story and whether you want more of such stories to follow…

    Regards

  41. Nikhil Joshi says:

    Hello Everyone,

Here is a small inspirational story which I came across. I thought it would be useful for the students.

    THE BALLOON STORY

There was a man who made his living selling balloons at a fair. He had balloons of many different colors, including red, yellow, blue and green. Whenever business was slow, he would release a helium-filled balloon into the air. When the children saw the balloon go up, they all wanted one. They would come up to him, buy a balloon and his sales would go up. All day, he continued to release a balloon whenever the sales slowed down. One day, the balloon man felt someone tugging at his jacket. He turned around and a little boy asked, “If you release a black balloon, would that also fly?” Moved by the boy’s concern, the man replied gently, “Son, it is not the color of the balloon, it is what’s inside that makes it go up.”

The same principle applies to our lives: It’s what’s inside that counts. And what’s inside of us that makes us go up is our attitude.

Dear Students, Do let me know if you liked it.

  43. NM Joshi says:

    Dear Trustees and Principal,

It is rightly mentioned that the name suggests blessings of God – Devashish. The growth and development of the students is programmed in true spirits.

My humble suggestions to the authorities – (1) to organize such programmes either weekly or fortnightly that provide opportunity to the students to speak, communicate and conversate with the group formed out of the students of particular class, to discuss on any point/current event assigned to teach group depending on their level. The teacher should watch and observe the conversation. (2) to organize quiz/competition or debate on any topic out of syllabus. The student to speak before the mass. (3) Some of the Schools are observing holiday on Saturday. However, while I am not suggesting for keeping holiday on Saturday, I request that Saturday should be spared for holding such activities/programmes. Students should be relieved from carrying their WEIGHTY school-bags.

This I think will nurture self-confidence in the students not only by improving their communicating ability in English but also help speak before the public. Ultimately, the School will generate future responsible citizens for our country.

Hope these suggestions will be considered and taken note of while designing programmes for the next year.

    Thanks.

    Hello Everyone,

I came across an INSPIRATIONAL SHORT STORY and thought it would be ideal to share with the Students.

Hope all of you would like to read it. Here it goes….

THE TURTLES WENT TO A PICNIC

A turtle family decided to go on a picnic. Turtles, being naturally slow about things, took seven years to prepare for their outing. Finally the turtle family left home looking for a suitable place. During the second year of their journey they found a place ideal for them at last! For about six months they cleaned the area, unpacked the picnic basket, and completed the arrangements. Then they discovered they had forgotten the salt. A picnic without salt would be a disaster, they all agreed. After a lengthy discussion, the youngest turtle was chosen to retrieve the salt from home. Although he was the fastest of the slow moving turtles, the little turtle whined, cried, and wobbled in his shell. He agreed to go on one condition: that no one would eat until he returned. The family consented and the little turtle left. Three years passed and the little turtle had not returned. Five years… six years…then on the seventh year of his absence, the oldest turtle could no longer contain his hunger. He announced that he was going to eat and begun to unwrap a sandwich. At that point the little turtle suddenly popped out from behind a tree shouting, “See! I knew you wouldn’t wait. Now I am not going to go get the salt.”

[Some of us waste our time waiting for people to live up to our expectations. We are so concerned about what others are doing that we don't do anything ourselves.]

Do let me know if you liked it. A few more like this can follow.

Thank you DEVASHISH for the “Parent Speak”section.

It is really an exciting feeling, to learn tht the section is activated. Now, we too are “DEVASHISHYAS” like you all are!!

Interactions with the school also takes us down memory lane and remind us of our school days. I am sure every one would agree to this.

    Can I give a suggestion??

How about a competition amongst the parents??? Wouldn’t it be exciting for all to participate!! and ofcourse for the JUDGES too…

Without disturbing the school, children and the school’s activities, Parents can be asked to write on a specific subject like their Most Memorable Day at school. (approx 500 words) It can be anything like going to a picnic or winning a debate or a race or cricket match or felicitation etc.
The Best three get a certificate from the school. (Would be inspiration for the Children also.)

Lastly a BIG BIG THANK YOU to all the teachers and the school management, who help our children to move forward step by step and support them in the time of need and also the “Parent Speak” section

    Regards
